In this six-week drawing class, artist Beth Williams guides students in developing strong observational skills using charcoal and graphite. The first portion of the course focuses on drawing from life, helping students learn to translate the three-dimensional world into clear, expressive two-dimensional drawings while building confidence in mark-making and structure. As the class progresses, students will move on to drawing from their own photo references, applying these skills in new ways. Throughout the course, Beth emphasizes material techniques and core principles of design to support strong, well-composed drawings.

Students should provide their own materials, however Beth can provide a small selection pencils, erasers, and paper for students with limited supplies.

Join us in Eleuthera, Bahamas, at Seashine, a beautiful beachfront home, for an immersive art retreat centered on providing generous time and space for focused creative work. This intimate retreat is hosted by artist and instructor Beth Williams, with gracious hospitality from homeowner Jenny Potenza.

Each day will include gourmet breakfast options, followed by guided painting sessions with technical instruction and demonstrations in oils, watercolor, and gouache.  Drawing on her decades-long career, Beth offers personalized insights, thoughtful feedback, and individual encouragement tailored to each artist’s direction and goals. The remainder of each day will be intentionally spacious, allowing for sustained independent work, along with unhurried time to enjoy meals, the secluded beach at Seashine, and the ease of island life.

Painting supplies are provided, and students are encouraged to bring their own materials, with suggested lists and guidance from Beth.

Both private and shared bedrooms are available.

This retreat offers a restorative balance of expert guidance, deep creative focus, and seaside beauty—an ideal setting for meaningful artistic growth.

What does the Retreat fee include?

• Select materials for oil painting, watercolor, and guouche (Guests will also be given a suggested materials list to bring themselves as an option.)

• Access to secluded beach, pool, hot tub, kayaks, paddle boards, pickleball courts

• Transportation to and from GHB on arrival and departure

What additional costs are not included in the retreat fee?

• Lunch and Dinner each day.   Guests will be provided with restaurant options as well as market options for purchasing groceries and preparing simple individual meals in the kitchen.

• Any additional island excursions are up to the individual guests. We will send a list of recommendations of day trips and adventures to choose from such as guided snorkeling, yoga, surfing and more.
